Drove by this piece of work multiple times and purposely took this route to see it on occasion. Finally took the time to pull over on the side of the road and snap this photo. My fave <3
We have made our raised beds! Some other things going on but not gonna go into that. Gonna think about the positive. Anyway, we have been very busy as far as getting things done around the house but we're still behind. Go figure.

We planted our seedlings on March 14th (roughly) and so far it is okay. When I thinned the tomatoes I accidentally killed a Roma tomato. *sad face* But there are still nine other Roma plants so it should be fine. The Heirloom tomatoes are hanging in there along with the pepper plants. Think I may have over watered them recently so need to back off a bit.

In the raised beds we have about 22 green been plants (bush variety, not pole) and all of them have come up but there are two that haven't actually opened up. On one particularly sunny day eighteen of them popped up out of the ground about seven days after being planted in the raised bed. Not bad not bad. Then we planted two carrot varieties, Carnival and Nanes or something like that. Gonna wait to thin them until after all of them have sprouted so we know where to make the cuts. The packaging says the carrots need to be cut for the thinning process, not pulled. Most of each row have started to show so it is coming along nicely.

The strawberries are in the lower part of that same raised bed. I think maybe ten or less died but they are spread out with the other fifteen strawberry plants. No fruit this year but next year if they make it through the nasty weather.

So when it came to the lettuce and onion the package did suggest they be started outdoors but nooo we had to start indoors. Let's just say the transplanting was a disaster! It was quite comical but some of the lettuce plants are sorta standing, not really. We're really surprised though that the onions are standing. They are the "Evergreen White Bunching Onion" from Gurneys. Yeah, we got all our plants from them this year. And all the seeds sprout so our experience with them has been good.
We also planted a salvia, the May Night Salvia variety. Named her "Sylvia." Original, i know. Heh and the lilac we named "Lila." Very creative indeed. But both are doing well and we threw in some seedlings, the hummingbird butterfly mix in the bed with Sylvia and in another flower bed threw in some seeds that are actually coming up. Purchased that "Cottage Flower" mix at Walgreen for 99 cents. Then in our last flower bed we planted a day lily called "Destined to See" and I put in seven more day lilies that were given from Letitia. We'll see how the beds come along later. Lila is in her very own spot by the raised beds, however the recent storms damaged her just a little.

And last is the plant I always tend to forget, the blueberry plant. It is the Dwarf Tophat blueberry and he said, "no they are annual plants" but then we read in the catalog it said the low bush blueberries take three (maybe four) years to establish...so good thing we read the damn catalog! We would have been calling Gurneys complaining about no blueberries and would have been very wrong.
Planted the Echinacea after leaving several seeds in a bag with soil in the refrigerator a little over three weeks. Put them in the flower bed with the day lilies.
